So this post is specifically for the photographers that think they need more! For this shoot I use a 2 light set up using the Paul C Buff AlienBees Flash units (with the same modifiers) on a cyc wall to create some great promo photos with Dancer Justtone.

First, I wanted to go for a gray background look. On the key light, I had the 47″ Foldable Octabox with a grid, to camera right of the subject. For the rim light I used a 7″ reflector with a grid, aimed at the subject. I put grids on both of these modifier to control the direction and spread of the light.

Second, I wanted to go for a clean white background look. Using the same 47″ Foldable Octabox on the key light I simply removed the grid to allow the light to spread more on the background. I removed the grid from the 7″ reflector and turned the rim light into the backlight to white out the background. Removing the grids on these modifiers allowed the light to spread more onto the background.
