Marlo Bolles is one of my favorite muses to work with in Atlanta. My fitness shoot with him last year actually inspired my long exposure series. We did a track inspired shoot and I used graphic effects in adobe photoshop to create the illusion of motion.
After creating that image, I got curious wondering how to create this effect in camera, which led to my long exposure series. On my recent trip back to Atlanta I felt it was time to justify myself by doing a long exposure shoot with him, while also playing with color. I loved how the orange gel gave a fire effect to the images.
For the lighting set up I used a 4 light set up using the Paul C Buff‘s Einstein 640 watts Flash units. On the key light, I had the 22″ Silver Output Beauty Dish with a 30 Degree Grid, and the fill light was the AlienBees Ringflash. I had two rim lights, both on the right side of the subject, one with an orange gel and one with a red gel.
