So I had the opportunity to work with calisthenics athlete and new signed fitness model Lucas of of Sports + Lifestyle Unlimited. After scrolling through his instagram and seeing his crazy stunts I instantly wanted to document him in this studio space to have him do some tricks on a motorcycle. So glad everything turned out just the way I pictured it in my mind!
For these images I used the Paul C Buff‘s AlienBees Flash units 3 light set up. On the key light, I had a 7” Standard Reflector aimed down at the subject to create a harsh light on the subject to enhance the muscle definition, while also creating a shadow on the background. For the fill light I had the 47″ Foldable Octabox next to me, with the white front diffusion panel removed. For the rim light I used a 14″ x 60″ Foldable Stripbox camera right of the subject. When Lucas moved to the floor for his stunts, I adjusted the fill light and had it on the floor aimed up at the subject.Since this was his first photoshoot we also needed to add some clean images to his portfolio, that we created below.
On the key light, I had the 47″ Foldable Octabox straight on the subject. For the back light I used a 14″ x 60″ Foldable Stripbox, and I had a 7” Standard Reflector on the fill light. For this image I had to do some adjustment in order to pull in the gelled light strips behind the subject. I dropped my aperature down to a f/2.8 and used a 14″ x 60″ Foldable Stripbox on low power aimed at the subject to fill him in.
